 FTP Archive

This archive area contains a set of portable SPSS and text files. They relate to analysis files for different publications using Australian census data. The portable SPSS files are in compressed (unix gzip) format and need to be uncompressed prior to use.

Access to the archive is restricted. Potential users are encouraged to email Professor F.L. Jones at Frank.Jones@anu.edu.au or by conventional mail.

Four data sets are included: two pooled data sets relating to trends in the labour market experience of immigrants in Australia at the 1981 and 1991 censuses (F.L. Jones, "Recent trends in labour market disadvantage among immigrants in Australia", Journal of Ethnic & Migration Studies, 24, January 1998, pp. 73-96); a multilevel analysis of ethnic intermarriage patterns at the 1986 census (F.L. Jones, "Individual and group effects on ethnic intermarriage: a multilevel analysis", Australian Journal of Social Research, 3, January 1997, pp. 17-37); and a log-linear analysis of ethnic intermarriage among southern Europeans, also at the time of the 1986 census (F.L. Jones & R. Luijkx, "Postwar patterns of intermarriage in Australia: the mediterranean experience", European Sociological Review, 12, May 1996, pp. 67-86).
